ABOUT US
We all started out as solo sound mixers and location sound recordists. We had our individual careers and our own achievements thanks to our technical skills, training, and knowhow — with each of us having been in the industry for over 10 years. It wasn’t just our friendship that made us decide to start The Sound Department, it was how we wanted to impact the industry. We felt that we could raise the standards and better serve our clients if we banded together and worked as a team.

CEDRIC REGINO
Production Sound Recordist / Post-Production Sound Editor / Re-Recording Mixer
Cedric began his training at the Negros Summer Workshops and at the International Academy of Film and Television where he received the Technical Excellence Award.
For over a decade, Cedric has worked on a number of projects ranging from film and documentaries to television and advertising – working on-location as a Production Sound Recordist as well as in the studio as a Post-Production Sound Editor and Mixer. These opportunities allowed his works to be featured in various expos and festivals around the world.
An adventurous person, a geek and a gamer, Cedric is passionate about things that tell a good story. This serves as his driving force to enable him to work on projects such as the TV5 series Midnight DJ, and the films Seduction, Island Dreams, Ang Nawawala (What Isn’t There), Sonata, T’yanak, and Singing in Graveyards.
MICKEY MACACHOR
Production Sound Mixer / Post-Production Sound Editor / Re-Recording Mixer
Mickey has developed a comprehensive experience in production sound and post-production sound with over 10 years of working in the industry. His experience working on a wide range of productions such as movies, documentaries, advertising, and television, has polished both his artistic and technical skills.
He finished his education at the International Academy of Film and Television where he was also awarded the Technical Excellence Award. He also received Best Sound for the film Aberya at the 2012 Cinema One Originals Film Festival. His talent for discovering fresh and innovative techniques in his field paved the way for him to be further recognized around the world. With projects in the Philippines, Singapore, and Bhutan, he continues to create masterpieces.
Singing in Graveyards, which premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival, as well as Honeygiver Among the Dogs (Munmo Tashi Khyidron) and The Red Phallus, which premiered at the 21st and 23rd Busan International Film Festival respectively, are just a few of his notable works.
PAULA GUPANA
Production Sound Recordist / Post-Production Sound Editor / Re-Recording Mixer
Paula has been involved in films, television, and digital content for over 10 years. She received her education at the International Academy of Film and Television, earning her the Certificate of Excellence award.
Working with production companies such as ABS-CBN, Bigfoot Entertainment, and Paperbug TV, she has established her name in the field. In addition to that, she has also garnered expertise in sound engineering for live events.
Some of her notable projects include Miss Possibilities, T’yanak, Our Pachao, Kapatid, and Singing in Graveyards. She was also involved in the National Geographic Channel TV series The Science of Stupid and the viral hit, Bogart the Explorer.
NICHOLAS VARELA
Production Sound Recordist
Nicholas Valera, also known as “Kulas”, has over 10 years of extensive training under his belt. Working on film and television productions for various companies such as Epicmedia Productions, Bigfoot Entertainment, and Dissident Pictures, he has developed his talent and skills.
His projects have taken him to locations around the world including Hong Kong, Turkey, and The Czech Republic. He has been involved in a variety of films, television shows, as well as documentaries. Some of his notable projects include Miss Bulalacao, Patay na si Hesus, Aberya, and Singing in Graveyards.
A Man of many talents, Kulas won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2012 Cinema One Originals Film Festival.
ANNA MAY REGINO
Admin / Finance
The Admin and Finance Head of The Sound Department, Anna May started her career at Deutsche Knowledge Services as a Senior Operations Analyst which has given her extensive knowledge of finance and management. During her stay, she accumulated awards such as the Spot Award and Team of the Month Award.
Her role as the Project Manager and Office Manager for Aton Land and Leisure followed suit. This opportunity gave her the expertise and knowledge in handling administrative tasks and projects. She was involved in the development of a Theme Park and a Real Estate Development in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Her beginnings started at the University of Saint La Salle – Bacolod where she received her Bachelor of Science degrees in Management Accounting and in Applied Economics. Anna May further expanded her knowledge by finishing her Graduate Studies (MBA) at The De La Salle University – Taft.
